Nipple reconstruction surgeries are usually conducted along with augmentation / reduction surgeries as there is a need to reposition the nipples. Nipple Reconstruction Surgery Nipple Reconstruction surgeries are usually performed in cases of Mastectomy where whole breast or part are removed. The nipple preservation process would keep the nipple in place while the breast is reconstructed around the nipple using fillers and gel. The plastic surgeons at pearl health have a long history of such surgeries and the procedure, while being in no way straightforward, has a lot of proven track records and can be safely undertaken. In cases of mastectomy where whole breasts need to be reconstructed, using gel or autologous tissue, nipple can be reconstructed using soft tissue, along with procedures like dermabrasion and even tattooing for aesthetic conformity. Nipple Restoration Surgery The surgical procedure of nipple reconstruction is using autologous soft tissue and shaping it and contouring it to mimic the natural nipple. Older techniques like transplanting donor nipples are not in practice today. Nipple reconstruction is usually done after the reconstructed breast has had time to heal like a period of at least 3 months to pass before the next sitting can be scheduled. The most popular form of nipple reconstruction using soft autologous tissue will create a nipple that will mimic in entirety the normal nipple. Other Procedures In the cases of breast enhancement or breast reduction surgeries the incisions and the subsequent removal or addition of tissues inside the breast will leave the position of the nipple as totally lopsided. In such cases the Nipple has to be repositioned after having been cut out completely, and repositioned so that the nipples are in perfect conformity to the proportion of the breasts.
